Our Story
The Stan Lee Foundation was created to honor the legacy of one of the world’s most beloved storytellers by championing the causes Stan Lee held dear. Formed by Stan Lee Universe LLC—the official home of Stan’s name, image, and likeness—the Foundation promotes literacy and the narrative arts, with a special focus on storytelling in all its forms, from traditional literature to the vibrant worlds of comic books and pop culture. We believe that stories have the power to inspire, educate and connect us, and we advance those values by supporting other charities and developing programs of our own.
Alongside our support for public charities, we are developing programs that the Foundation will lead and operate, with an initial focus on early literacy, scholarships and mentorship for young writers. We proudly contribute to organizations such as The Hero Initiative, which provides emergency financial support to veteran comic book creators facing medical or economic hardship, as well as institutions like the Comic-Con Museum and the Museum of Pop Culture that preserve and celebrate the cultural impact of storytelling through comics and pop media. In doing so, we continue Stan’s lifelong mission to champion creativity, uplift creators, and ensure that the power of storytelling remains accessible to all.
